hipfractue170-160Whether you love your hips or hate them, a woman's hips are a vital part of her daily life. Keeping them healthy is important to her over all health and well-being. With time and as women age osteoporosis is likely to set in and one of the most problematic places osteoporosis can affect are your hips. Hip fractures are incredibly serious Health problem, life and death to some women. Statistics tell us that only out of every four women (25%) who suffer a broken hip will makes a full recovery. Ninety-two percent of men and women with hip fracture will likely lose their ability to walk properly, if they can walk at all. Another one out of four women (also 25%) over 50 who suffers a hip fracture will die within one year. Each year in the U.S. more than 352,000 people will suffer a broken hip, 90% of these fractures will occur as a result of a fall. While many of these falls and fractures, and deaths could have been prevented, they were not because awareness and concern over the risks associated with hip fracture are still dismally low or non existent.

Among women ages 45 to 64, 80% of those polled said that they do not worry about hip fracture. This number is appallingly low. Many of these women did not even realize that hip fractures often lead to serious consequences, including pain, suffering, loss of mobility, surgery, long term hospital, rehab or convalescent facility stays, loss of work, inability to return to the job at all, difficulty walking needing to use a cane, crutches or walker for the rest of their life, and of course, as stated above, a significant risk of premature death .

Most women also did not know that hip fractures, osteoporosis is 1) preventable, 2) treatable, and 3) if caught early enough, reversible.

In our next edition of this HolisticGynPS Newsletter we will present a detailed osteoporosis prevention and reversal program. A Holistic Program for Preventing and Reversing Osteoporosis, not only of the hip but all bones, including the spine, wrists and forearms.
